Johns Hopkins Medicine – Heart and Vascular Institute

The Johns Hopkins Heart and Vascular Institute is at the forefront of cardiovascular research and patient care. It is part of Johns Hopkins Medicine, an institution renowned for its contributions to medical science and education. The institute’s research encompasses a broad spectrum of cardiovascular diseases, from common conditions like hypertension and atherosclerosis to rare genetic disorders.

Johns Hopkins researchers are engaged in pioneering work on the molecular and genetic underpinnings of heart disease. They are also leaders in the development of new diagnostic tools and therapeutic approaches. For instance, their work in stem cell therapy and regenerative medicine aims to restore heart function in patients with severe heart damage.

The institute’s commitment to translating research into clinical practice is reflected in its numerous clinical trials and innovative treatment protocols. Johns Hopkins’ collaborative environment fosters multidisciplinary research, bringing together experts from various fields to tackle complex cardiovascular problems.

Stanford South Asian Translational Heart Initiative

The Stanford South Asian Translational Heart Initiative (SSATHI) is dedicated to researching and treating heart and vascular disease in South Asians (people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, and Sri Lanka). Through this research, SSATHI aims to be a health partner to develop targeted and holistic treatment plans for patients.

With three locations across California, SSATHI offers health assessments to help South Asians be able to target coronary artery disease and identify risk factors. By understanding the high risk, this program will provide a tailored treatment plan that works with each individual patient.

SSATHI is working to empower the South Asian Community to learn more about cardiovascular risk factors and to help protect future generations.
